Here are some early ideas for costume, we want there to be a strong contrast between how the main character Alice starts off, to how she ends up in the final scene. Her costume change will reflect upon her innocence being taken as a school uniform is widely recognised for symbolising innocence and vulnerability.
There will be a strong use of Black throughout our Thriller as this colour is widely associated with crime and evil, both of which are evident throughout our Thriller. The costumes that we have chosen for the abductor and other trafficked victims were inspired by those worn in Taken, Human Trafficking and other televised material.
As the females who are trafficked are being exploited and forced to sell their bodies, the clothing had to be revealing and cheap. The rips and tears have been added to the costume to show that they have been violently abused by their abductors and the men that they are forced to go with.
We have started discussing hair and make-up and have decided that we will be applying white face paint beneath a natural make-up base. We will use blue and purple paint mixed on a palette with black and grey to create bruises and bags beneath the eyes. We plan to conduct further research into the physical implications that malnourishment and drug use can have so that our characters look like genuine victims.
